Job Overview
A well-established law firm in Houston, TX is currently seeking a driven and skilled Associate Immigration Attorney. This position presents an excellent opportunity to work closely with a seasoned legal team, manage a dynamic caseload, and develop professionally in a collaborative environment. The role involves providing legal counsel and representation in various immigration matters, including removal proceedings and family-based petitions. Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, relevant immigration law experience, and a commitment to client advocacy.

Duties

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and propose strategic legal solutions

  • Represent clients in Immigration Court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage a personal caseload of immigration matters

  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers

  • Prepare and review immigration applications including removal defense and family-based petitions

  • Adjust and finalize application packets for submission

  • Deliver presentations and liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations

  • Conduct consultations with potential clients and determine appropriate legal strategies

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimonies

  • Analyze legal cases to identify potential benefits or relief options

  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements

  • 1 to 4 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative legal team

  • Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills

  • Proven experience managing and advancing legal cases

  • Proficiency with a range of immigration matters, including family-based, humanitarian, detained, EOIR, and citizenship cases

  • Familiarity with legal case management software preferred

  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish strongly preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Must be admitted to practice law in any U.S. state

Certifications

  • Active Bar Membership in good standing (any state)
