Job Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking a skilled and dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their growing immigration team in Phoenix, AZ. This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate Immigration Attorney to gain valuable experience while furthering their legal career within a firm offering substantial growth potential. The selected candidate will manage a caseload, represent clients, and collaborate with a team of experienced immigration attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

  • Explain immigration concepts and offer strategic solutions to clients
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of immigration cases
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine necessary immigration strategies
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court/USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential case benefits for clients
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law
  • Proven ability to move legal cases forward and manage a caseload effectively
  • Strong team player with a collaborative attitude and willingness to strategize with fellow associates
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active member of the state bar in good standing

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar (Arizona preferred)

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law and proceedings
  • Excellent client management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Skilled in drafting legal briefs, petitions, and applications
  • Experience working with immigration law enforcement and prosecutorial offices
