Job Overview: A law firm based in New York City is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their Financial and Real Estate practice. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in general practice, focusing on bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and real estate litigation. This position offers the opportunity to work on various litigation and transactional matters, including loan documentation/loan closings, commercial foreclosures, replevins, bankruptcy motions, and drafting transactional documents.

Duties:

  • Conduct litigation and transactional work in bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and real estate matters.
  • Handle commercial foreclosures, replevins, out-of-court restructurings, and bankruptcy litigation.
  • Draft transactional documents such as purchase and sale agreements, franchise disclosure documents, commercial real estate and lending documents, leases, and other contracts.
  • Participate in negotiations for bankruptcy terms for new loans and inter-creditor agreements.
  • Address creditor's rights issues arising during commercial and other transitions.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in general practice, focusing on bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and real estate litigation.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in New York State.
  • Experience with bankruptcy motions, debtor-in-possession financing, and acquisition of assets from bankruptcy or distressed entities.
  • Familiarity with drafting transactional documents and agreements.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and transactional skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents.
