A law firm in Seattle is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with a strong background in patent preparation and prosecution. The ideal candidate should have 2+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering or computer science, along with exceptional academic achievements and solid industry exposure. The role requires proficiency in patent prosecution, with a preference for expertise in electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities in accordance with legal standards.
  • Analyze and respond to office actions from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and clients to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Draft legal documents, including patent applications, responses, and opinions.
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on intellectual property matters.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Skills:

  • High level of academic achievement.

  • Proficiency in patent prosecution.
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
