Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A respected full-service law firm located in Hartford, CT is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join its team. This position focuses on managing a diverse portfolio of civil litigation matters, particularly in insurance defense, general liability, employment disputes, medical malpractice, and coverage analysis. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, proactive, and comfortable handling all phases of litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level attorney with solid courtroom exposure who thrives in an environment that values autonomy and teamwork alike.

Duties:

  • Draft, revise, and file pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documentation

  • Participate in court appearances, hearings, and depositions

  • Perform legal research and case analysis across various practice areas

  • Manage caseload independently with attention to deadlines and procedural accuracy

  • Support settlement strategy and client communication throughout the litigation lifecycle

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex case development

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal procedural rules

  • Maintain detailed and organized case files and client correspondence

Requirements:

  • Active membership in the Connecticut Bar

  • Experience in civil litigation

  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills

  • Proven ability to manage litigation files from inception to resolution

  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and e-filing systems

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in Connecticut (in good standing)

Skills:

  • Advanced legal research and analytical reasoning

  • Exceptional written communication, including persuasive legal writing

  • Courtroom confidence and negotiation acumen

  • High attention to detail and organizational discipline

  • Ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines
