Job Overview
A law firm seeks a driven and enthusiastic Entry-Level / Junior Associate to join its expanding energy regulatory practice in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for a candidate with zero to two years of experience who is eager to develop their legal skills in regulatory litigation, policy, and transactions related to the energy sector. The position offers an opportunity to work with large-scale clients in energy and utility industries and contribute to impactful regulatory matters across Texas and New Mexico.

Duties

  • Assist in regulatory litigation matters related to energy, including proceedings before state public utility commissions.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including regulatory filings, policy recommendations, and transactional agreements.
  • Research regulatory policy, energy law, and industry trends to support clients' needs.
  • Assist with energy-related transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and subject matter experts to develop strategies and solutions for clients.
  • Participate in client meetings, providing support and strategic advice on energy law and regulatory matters.
  • Stay informed of current developments in energy law, including legislative and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of experience in regulatory litigation, energy law, or a related field.
  • Strong academic background with excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and apply sound judgment to complex legal issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated to develop professional relationships and build a practice in energy regulatory matters.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas or plans to become licensed in Texas by 2024.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Texas State Bar License (or plans to be licensed by 2024).

Skills

  • Strong research and writing abilities, especially related to energy regulation and policy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in legal document drafting and regulatory filing procedures.
