Job Overview: A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Albany, NY. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior attorneys while providing legal counsel and support to clients involved in personal injury, motor vehicle, premises liability, and related cases. Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and assistance to clients with matters related to no-fault issues, personal injury, and property damage.
  • Communicate regularly with clients through phone, email, and in-person meetings to ensure timely updates and progress.
  • Set up and manage cases with liability, no-fault, and uninsured/supplemental underinsured insurance carriers, maintaining regular contact with adjusters.
  • Research legal issues regarding motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and other personal injury matters.
  • Oversee investigations necessary for the prosecution of personal injury claims.
  • Utilize a paperless case management system to document case status and create timelines based on the client's medical progress and other relevant factors.
  • Review and assess case statuses to identify potential issues that may delay case resolution.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers, including case evaluation, medical record review, and research.
  • Prepare demand packages for settlement negotiations and assist in finalizing settlements.
  • Negotiate and manage liens involving Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance, disability, worker’s compensation, and other related entities.
  • Provide support to case managers in settlement negotiations and personal injury claims.
  • Prepare legal documents, including notices of claim, petitions, and filings for municipal, state, and federal matters.
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and arbitrations, including municipal law hearings and No-Fault Examinations under Oath.
  • Work closely with senior associates and support staff to ensure efficient case handling.
  • Attend court hearings, perform legal research, and assist in providing legal counsel.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date client files for easy access by other attorneys and paralegals.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Strong understanding of PC applications, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities for effective client and team interaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong willingness to learn from senior attorneys and contribute to the growth of the client base.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
