Job Overview

A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in foreclosure, real estate law, or collections for its Massachusetts-based Foreclosure Department. The ideal candidate will be organized, energetic, and self-motivated, with strong communication skills and a positive attitude. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, handling all stages of the foreclosure process while interacting with clients and negotiating resolutions. A hybrid work schedule is available, and the firm is willing to train the right candidate.

Location

  • Lowell, MA

Duties

  • Handle all stages of the foreclosure process in Massachusetts and potentially other New England states
  • Draft and file pleadings in state and federal courts
  • Conduct legal research, writing, and communication
  • Communicate effectively with clients to advise on case strategies and potential outcomes
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel for case resolution
  • Attend various legal proceedings, including contested and uncontested court appearances, both in-person and remotely
  • Track and report case activity and results using the firm’s case management system

Requirements

  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar, in good standing (required)
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Federal District Court (preferred)
  • Admission to other New England state bars (a plus)
  • Some experience in foreclosure, real estate, creditor rights/defense, or debt collection
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-sufficient, with the ability to work independently and manage a busy workload
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn client web-based systems and legal practice software

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership in the Massachusetts Bar

Certifications

  • Massachusetts Bar License (required)
  • Additional bar admissions in other New England states (a plus)
