A law firm in Dallas, specializing in criminal defense is seeking a skilled and experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload, represent clients in court, provide legal advice, and collaborate closely with legal assistants and other attorneys.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of criminal defense matters from inception through trial and post-trial motions.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to clients regarding their legal rights and options.
  • Represent clients in pretrial hearings, trials, and other court appearances.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to assess the merits of cases and predict outcomes.
  • Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare witnesses for deposition and trial.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors and opposing counsel on behalf of clients.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure excellent client communication throughout the legal process.
  • Collaborate with the Criminal Defense Team to strategize on cases and provide assistance as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing criminal law, including handling complex cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Proven track record of success in criminal defense trials and negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of criminal law procedures and legal principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
