A law firm in Montgomery, AL, is seeking a Counsel Attorney to join their defense litigation team. The successful candidate will be a strategic and integral part of the team, providing exceptional representation for clients. This role involves participating in trial preparation, including case strategy and discovery, as well as preparing and arguing motions, writing legal briefs, and conducting research on complex litigation matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic member of the defense litigation team, delivering high-quality legal representation.
  • Participate in all aspects of trial preparation, including developing case strategy, conducting discovery, and reviewing records.
  • Conduct client and witness interviews to gather critical information for case development.
  • Take and defend depositions, ensuring thorough and effective questioning and responses.
  • Prepare and argue pre-trial and trial motions, presenting compelling arguments to the court.
  • Write detailed and well-researched briefs, legal memorandums, and other legal documents.
  • Research and analyze complex litigation areas, staying informed of relevant legal developments.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement effective defense strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys and legal staff as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in defense litigation with a strong track record of success.
  • Expertise in taking and defending depositions.
  • Ability to research and investigate complex litigation issues.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive and comprehensive legal documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Alabama.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in trial preparation, case strategy, and legal research.
  • Strong deposition skills and experience in handling complex litigation matters.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
