Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a qualified Patent Agent with expertise in intellectual property (IP), specifically in drafting and patent prosecution. The ideal candidate should possess a strong chemistry background, a degree in chemical engineering or chemistry, and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Advanced degrees and/or prior work experience before taking the agency exam are strongly preferred, and USPTO membership is a prerequisite. The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication skills, excellent academic credentials, and strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Duties:

• Conduct patent drafting and prosecution activities related to intellectual property matters.
• Collaborate with attorneys and inventors to gather necessary information for patent applications.
• Assist in preparing responses to office actions and other patent-related correspondence.
• Conduct patent searches and analyses to assess patentability and infringement issues.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
• Degree in chemical engineering or chemistry.
• Strong chemistry background.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (Advanced degrees preferred).

Certifications:

• USPTO membership.

Skills:

• Proficient in patent drafting and prosecution processes.

• Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
