Entry-Level Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join their team in Bakersfield, CA. This position involves explaining immigration concepts, representing clients in removal proceedings, and managing a diverse caseload. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in immigration law, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle a dynamic and challenging workload.

Duties:

• Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and accurate case progression.
• Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and review immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Make necessary adjustments to immigration applications/packets and ensure compliance with legal standards.
• Present updates and work collaboratively with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
• Conducted strategic immigration consultations with potential clients and developed necessary case strategies.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis to determine possible client case benefits and outcomes.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.
• Demonstrate commitment to immigration law through previous law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Bar admission (law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered).
• A demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Proficiency with Case Management Software is preferred.
