Coverage Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A well-established civil defense law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of three years of experience in insurance coverage for its Philadelphia office. This role offers a unique blend of legal research, analytical writing, trial advocacy, and client interaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling insurance coverage disputes, declaratory judgment actions, and bad faith claims. Experience with first-party property matters and insurance fraud investigations is highly preferred.

Location:

• Philadelphia, PA

Duties:

• Conduct legal research and provide in-depth analysis of insurance coverage matters.
• Draft complex legal documents, including coverage opinions, motions, and pleadings.
• Represent insurance companies in declaratory judgment actions and bad faith litigation.
• Handle cases involving various lines of insurance, with a particular focus on first-party property and special investigations (SIU).
• Participate in trial advocacy and litigation strategy development.
• Maintain direct communication with clients to provide legal counsel and updates.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance coverage law.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Interest in both analytical legal work and courtroom advocacy.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Bar.

Skills:

• Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
• Experience handling first-party property claims and insurance fraud investigations is a plus.
