Job Overview:
A law firm is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Patent Agent to join their Patent Prosecution & Litigation practice, focusing on the Chemical, Pharma, and Biotech sectors. The ideal candidate will have expertise in patent prosecution and litigation, with a background in chemical engineering or chemistry. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of professionals on a variety of complex and impactful patent matters.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech innovations.
  • Assist with patent litigation, including supporting trial preparation and document management.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to provide strategic counsel on patent portfolios and IP rights.
  • Conduct prior art searches and assist with patentability assessments.
  • Prepare legal documents, including office action responses, patent applications, and supporting materials.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to provide the best possible service to clients.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in patent prosecution or litigation.
  • IP experience, including patent application drafting and prosecution.
  • A background in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive approach and ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degrees (e.g., MS, Ph.D.) or relevant work experience are highly preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in patent prosecution processes and best practices.
  • Strong technical and legal writing skills.
