A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience. The ideal candidate must be admitted to practice in both Washington, D.C. and Virginia, and will possess excellent academic credentials and writing skills. Experience with federal court litigation and Law Review or Clerkship experience is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a high-driven, client-focused environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, and briefs.
  • Manage discovery processes and oversee document review.
  • Take and defend depositions, and argue motions in federal and state courts.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare cases for trial.
  • Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and managing expectations.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervise junior associates and support staff as needed.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Stay current on relevant legal trends and case law affecting commercial litigation.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice in both Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
  • 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience.
  • Strong academic credentials and superior writing skills.
  • Law Review or Clerkship experience preferred.
  • Experience with federal court litigation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
