Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Mid-Level Consumer Financial Regulatory Associate Attorney with 4 years of experience in regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have expertise in consumer financial regulations, particularly those concerning payments and credit products at both state and federal levels, as well as laws on unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices. Exceptional communication skills and a solid commitment to client service are essential. Experience with emerging platforms, FinTech, mortgage lenders/services, cryptocurrency, and other digital assets is a plus. Prior law firm experience is not required, but the candidate must be a member of the Illinois Bar in good standing.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on consumer financial regulations, including state and federal laws.
  • Provide counsel on payments and credit products.
  • Ensure compliance with unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices laws.
  • Represent clients in regulatory matters and proceedings.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs.
  • Conduct regulatory research and analysis.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including regulatory filings and compliance policies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
  • Stay current with emerging platforms, FinTech developments, mortgage lending/servicing, and digital asset regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working on regulatory matters.
  • Expertise in consumer financial regulations at the state and federal levels.
  • Knowledge of laws related to payments and credit products.
  • Understanding of unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices laws.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to client service.
  • Membership in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
  • Experience with emerging platforms, FinTech, mortgage lenders/services, cryptocurrency, and digital assets is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Member of the Illinois Bar in good standing.
