Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Associate Attorney to build and grow a practice in an area or geographic location the firm is not currently servicing. This unique opportunity allows the candidate to establish a successful legal practice with a strong team-oriented environment, while actively developing their practice and client relationships. 

Location:

  • Millersburg, Ohio

Duties:

  • Represent clients in a designated geographical area or practice area with support from a multi-faceted team.

  • Project the economic value of services, including estimating fees and building matter budgets.

  • Communicate financial obligations and expectations clearly with clients, ensuring retained funds cover projected services.

  • For litigators: Maintain a regular schedule of court appearances, hearings, trials, and client conferences.

  • Oversee legal matters in coordination with a paralegal team, ensuring thorough case documentation, planning, and execution.

  • Negotiate favorable outcomes through settlement, mediation, or litigation.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary professionals (e.g., CPAs, social workers) to advance clients' matters.

  • Engage in business development activities, including networking, marketing, and community involvement, to grow the firm’s litigation and transactional practices.

Requirements:

  • JD and admission to the Ohio Bar (Required).

  • Minimum 3-5 years of litigation experience.

  • Proven track record in network building, business development, and community engagement.

  • Strong leadership and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, efficiently manage high-stress situations, and organize a legal practice effectively.

  • Comfortable using case management systems and remote collaboration tools.

  • Ability to travel occasionally for hearings and trials.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Ohio Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage complex litigation matters.

  • Tech-savvy with experience using case management software.

  • Effective at negotiation and dispute resolution.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
