A law firm in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a skilled Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have immigration experience and demonstrate exceptional communication, management, and organizational skills. This role requires a proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The Immigration Attorney will manage a high caseload, oversee a team of paralegals, interact with clients, and handle various immigration matters, including Family Petitions, Asylum, and U-Visas. Fluency in Spanish is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a substantial caseload, including day-to-day interactions with clients and potential clients.
  • Supervise and coordinate a large team of paralegals and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Meet with potential new clients and develop case strategies.
  • Prepare, revise, and file court documents, including motions, briefs, and memoranda.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated on legislative changes and judicial case law.
  • Handle court hearings and trials, providing expert legal representation.
  • Train and supervise staff, ensuring effective case management and high-quality legal work.
  • Market the firm's immigration services and cross-sell various other practices within the firm.
  • Work one Saturday a month with opportunities for performance bonuses based on new clients signed.
  • Develop expertise in immigration matters, including Family Petitions, Asylum, Individual Hearings, SIJIS, U-Visas, and Waivers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of immigration experience.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, paralegals, and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in training and supervising staff.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school (required).
  • Active Bar License in good standing from any U.S. State or Puerto Rico (required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, including Family Petitions, Asylum, SIJIS, U-Visas, and Waivers.
  • Proficient in drafting and revising legal documents, including motions and briefs.
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are essential.
