Senior Criminal Defense Attorney

Job Overview:

A premier law firm in San Jose is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to join its growing criminal defense team. The Senior Criminal Defense Attorney will be responsible for managing their caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. Location:

• San Jose, California

Duties:

• Advise clients on their legal rights and responsibilities in criminal cases.
• Draft legal documents related to the cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings, providing clients with strategic advice following each hearing.
• Manage court appearances, trials, motions, and legal research.
• Analyze case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents and provide legal counsel accordingly.
• Oversee and manage a caseload of criminal cases.
• Gather additional evidence to support the clients' positions or counter the prosecution's charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and help define key goals for case strategy.
• Work closely with the criminal defense team, including attorneys and legal assistants, to effectively manage cases.

Requirements:

• Experience: At least 4-5 years of experience handling criminal defense cases.
• Skills:
  • Strong ability to handle complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to strategize and collaborate within a team environment.
• Preferred:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage a high caseload effectively.
• Experience in drafting motions, conducting trials, and preparing clients for depositions.
• Knowledge of criminal defense laws and procedures at the federal, state, and local levels.
