A law firm in North Charleston, SC, is seeking a dedicated Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will manage defense litigation for workers’ compensation claims, representing employers and insurance carriers. They should possess a solid understanding of South Carolina workers’ compensation laws and practices.

Duties:

  • Defend employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation cases before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission.
  • Conduct legal research and draft various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and appeals.
  • Prepare clients for hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to manage case files efficiently.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on workers’ compensation matters.
  • Stay current on developments in workers’ compensation laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the South Carolina State Bar in good standing.
  • Must have experience practicing in workers’ compensation defense or related field.
  • Proficient knowledge of South Carolina workers’ compensation laws, rules, and procedures.
  • Proven litigation experience, including handling hearings and trials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
