Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced eDiscovery Counsel to join its Litigation Services team. This role will involve applying advanced technical and legal eDiscovery strategies to case teams and firm clients, overseeing all stages of the discovery process, and utilizing research platforms, including generative AI, to provide high-level legal research on eDiscovery-related issues across various jurisdictions. 

Location:

  • Menlo Park, CA

Duties:

  • Provide strategic legal analysis related to litigation procedures and eDiscovery for both internal teams and clients.
  • Stay updated on legal trends in eDiscovery and ensure best practices are maintained across the firm.
  • Prepare, present, and moderate client-facing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions on innovation and strategy in eDiscovery.
  • Design and develop client-facing materials, such as eDiscovery playbooks and bulletins.
  • Develop and maintain firm-wide eDiscovery best practices in collaboration with the eDiscovery Solutions Counsel and Practice Support Services team.
  • Compile and update templates, educational manuals, and resources to ensure ongoing education.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and CLE courses to remain current on case law and industry developments.
  • Educate attorneys and staff on effective eDiscovery strategies and disseminate updates on legal developments.
  • Safeguard sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information.

Requirements:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent.
  • Admission to the relevant state bar.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in litigation or a related practice.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing large-scale electronic document reviews and productions.
  • Experience in litigation response, electronic discovery, or records management.
  • Client-facing experience in the eDiscovery field.
  • Expertise in white-collar investigations and regulatory matters is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the relevant state bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in electronic discovery law and practice.
  • Ability to articulate complex legal rules and protocols clearly and concisely.
  • Strong leadership skills in organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to stay abreast of developments in eDiscovery law and technology.
