Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking an associate attorney with a minimum of three years of experience in bankruptcy and creditors' rights. This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognized practice with exposure to a broad range of industries including real estate, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, energy, and more. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, and a genuine interest in bankruptcy law.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on bankruptcy-related matters, including restructuring and insolvency issues
  • Represent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, adversary proceedings, and state court receiverships
  • Assist in out-of-court restructurings
  • Work directly with clients to develop business solutions for their bankruptcy and creditors' rights needs
  • Manage complex casework and provide detailed legal analysis
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on high-profile cases
  • Assist with client development and participate in business development activities

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of bankruptcy or creditors' rights experience
  • Active Missouri State Bar license or eligibility to waive in
  • Strong academic background with excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active licensure to practice law in Missouri or ability to waive into Missouri

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing capabilities
  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy and creditors' rights law
  • Ability to manage complex legal cases independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively
