Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle patent prosecution activities, including preparing and filing patent applications, responding to office actions, and managing patent portfolios.
  • Provide patent counseling, including conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, patentability assessments, and strategic advice on patent protection.
  • Support clients in navigating complex patent issues and intellectual property strategies.
  • Draft and review patent-related documents, including applications, amendments, and responses.
  • Conduct technical and legal research to support patent filings and client counseling.
  • Collaborate with inventors and clients to gather information and address patent-related concerns.
  • Assist with patent litigation matters as needed, including pre-litigation analysis and strategy development.
  • Stay current on developments in patent law and technology trends to provide informed advice to clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution and counseling.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the U.S. Bar and registration to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • U.S. Bar membership.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
