A law firm in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking an EE Patent Agent with a strong academic background and 1-2 years of experience. The ideal candidate should preferably have a degree in Electrical Engineering, though exceptional candidates with backgrounds in Physics, Computer Science, or other Engineering disciplines will also be considered. Experience in wireless communications is a plus. Job Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications primarily in the field of Electrical Engineering.
  • Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Assist in developing and managing patent portfolios.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to prepare technical documents.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding patent prosecution strategies and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Patent Agent or in a similar role.
  • Eligibility to practice before the USPTO is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of patent laws, procedures, and patent office practices.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and strong verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Technical expertise in Electrical Engineering principles and wireless communications (preferred).
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
