Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a mid-level associate with specialized expertise in Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation. This role involves providing support for a national practice, with a focus on retirement plans, executive compensation, and benefits aspects related to mergers and acquisitions. This is a dynamic opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in this field to contribute to a high-achieving team across multiple office locations.

Location:

  • Kansas City, MO

Duties:

  • Draft, design, implement, and administer tax-qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Oversee health and welfare benefit plans.
  • Handle executive compensation and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Address taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements, including Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Design and draft employment and other executive compensation arrangements.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Strong academic credentials and proven law firm experience.
  • Exceptional writing, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ambition and a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to the bar in the state of practice or eligible for admission upon hiring.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Proficiency in handling complex legal matters related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
