Job Overview
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced International Estate Planning Associate or Senior Associate to join its Private Client Practice. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in handling international estate planning matters for high-net-worth individuals, families, and companies. The role offers a flexible hybrid work environment with opportunities for remote and in-office collaboration across multiple office locations.

Duties

  • Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on international estate planning, including cross-border tax issues.
  • Provide legal counsel on wealth management structures that address multi-jurisdictional legal and tax considerations.
  • Manage complex matters related to foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, and compliance with tax obligations for overseas accounts and assets.
  • Assist clients with the purchase of U.S. property by non-U.S. persons and related tax and legal issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across various practice areas to offer comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including trusts, wills, and estate plans.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing proactive and effective advice tailored to their needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning and cross-border tax law.
  • Expertise in advising U.S. and non-U.S. taxpayers on complex international tax matters and wealth management strategies.
  • Ability to handle sophisticated estate planning issues and offer creative, strategic solutions.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Member in good standing with the bar in the jurisdiction where the position is based.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the jurisdiction where the position is based (required).
