Duties

  • Represent local government clients on a variety of legal issues, including:
    • Torts and civil rights
    • Eminent domain and landfill regulation
    • Redistricting, voting rights, and election disputes
    • Employment claims and road disputes
    • Subdivision regulation litigation
  • Conduct litigation and administrative hearings.
  • Provide consultations and continuing education for elected officials on legal matters.
  • Manage cases from pre-litigation through appellate disposition with increasing independence.
  • Engage in frequent travel for hearings and client meetings.
  • Maintain detailed time and expense billing records.

Requirements

  • 0-1 year of experience as a primary attorney in defense litigation and administrative hearings.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-sufficiency in managing a busy caseload.
  • Professional and personable demeanor, with the ability to engage clients, staff, and opposing counsel effectively.
  • Prior experience in local government representation is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (required).
