Job Overview: A growing, full-service law firm is seeking an experienced Divorce/Matrimonial/Family Law Associate Attorney to join its Albany, NY office. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in family law, demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills, and thrive in a team-oriented environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a passion for family law and a desire to work on complex, impactful cases.

Location:

  • Albany, NY

Duties:

  • Represent clients in divorce, matrimonial, and family law matters, including child custody, support, and alimony.

  • Draft legal documents such as petitions, motions, settlement agreements, and court orders.

  • Manage a significant caseload and handle all aspects of family law litigation.

  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients regarding their rights and obligations.

  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences on behalf of clients.

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, associates, and other departments to ensure comprehensive case management.

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, including managing expectations and providing updates on case progress.

  • Mentor and support junior associates in the family law practice area.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Licensed to practice law in New York.

  • 5+ years of experience in Divorce/Matrimonial/Family Law.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of family law and matrimonial proceedings.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent client relationship management.

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in case management software and legal research tools.

  • Leadership potential with the ability to mentor junior associates.
