Senior Immigration Attorney

A distinguished immigration law firm based in Oak Park, Illinois, is currently seeking a skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to join its growing legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney to take on a leadership position, manage a diverse caseload, and contribute meaningfully to clients' immigration journeys. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in removal defense and USCIS applications and will work closely with a team of legal professionals to deliver exceptional representation and strategic solutions.

Duties

• Represent detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals

• Explain immigration processes and deliver strategic legal guidance to clients

• Manage and prioritize a full caseload of complex immigration matters

• Conduct in-person intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers

• Prepare and review a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions

• Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation

• Consult with potential clients and develop appropriate case strategies

• Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court testimony

• Stay informed on changes in immigration law and engage with law enforcement and community-based organizations

• Supervise and collaborate with legal assistants and fellow attorneys

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience practicing immigration law

• Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload and advance cases efficiently

• Strong experience with EOIR proceedings, family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, citizenship, and detained cases

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required)

• Proficiency in immigration case management software (preferred)

• Strong team collaboration and problem-solving skills

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the United States
