A law firm is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join their Columbus, Ohio office. The candidate will work directly with the firm's expanding individual, family, and employment-based clientele, focusing on processing visa applications, green card filings, naturalization, and handling removal proceedings in immigration court. This role involves close collaboration with Partners, Lead Attorneys, and support staff to manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases, including deportation defense and family-based immigration matters. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, self-motivated, an independent thinker, and possess strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle visa applications, green card filings, and naturalization processes for clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings in immigration court.
  • Collaborate closely with Partners, Lead Attorneys, and support staff on immigration cases.
  • Provide legal counsel on deportation defense and family-based immigration matters.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare necessary legal documents.
  • Interact directly with clients to gather information and provide updates on case status.
  • Develop case strategies and manage case progress to meet client objectives.
  • Attend court hearings, interviews, and other relevant legal proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience in immigration law, particularly in deportation defense and family-based immigration, is preferred.
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school (or foreign equivalency).
  • Bar Admission: Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing with a State Bar association.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish or another foreign language is preferred.
