Mid-level Business Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Pleasanton, CA, seeks a Mid-level Business Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of substantive experience in business litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of California civil procedure and evidence codes, along with demonstrated skills in drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, motion practice, courtroom appearances, depositions, and mediation. Exceptional academic credentials, communication abilities, and proficiency in legal and factual research are required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery demands, and responses in business litigation matters.
• Conduct legal research and analysis of complex legal issues.
• Independently identify legal issues, anticipate strategies, and recommend courses of action in litigation.
• Participate in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
• Engage in mediation and settlement negotiations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and strategic advice.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to manage caseload efficiently.

Requirements:

• Active member of the State Bar of California and in good standing.
• 3-5 years of substantive experience in business litigation, preferably in a law firm environment.
• Strong working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong legal and factual/investigative research skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Certifications:
