A law firm seeks an accomplished Senior Trial Attorney to join its high-energy team in Costa Mesa, CA. The ideal candidate will bring substantial trial experience, particularly in complex product liability cases, and be adept at collaborating with a variety of expert witnesses. This role includes leading a trial team, managing litigation strategies, and utilizing innovative technology to drive successful case outcomes.

Duties

  • Oversee case management and collaborate on strategy development
  • Supervise and mentor associates and legal staff
  • Serve as first or second chair in jury trials
  • Represent clients at state and federal court hearings
  • Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations
  • Work closely with expert witnesses to prepare cases for trial
  • Draft critical trial-related documents, including motions, trial briefs, and jury instructions
  • Engage in strategic planning and maintain team collaboration
  • Conduct legal research and manage document production
  • Draft and respond to discovery and meet and confer letters
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel and clients

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years practicing law with at least 5 years of litigation or trial experience
  • Licensure: Active bar admission and state licensure
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
  • Trial Experience: Demonstrated first and second chair trial experience; significant experience with depositions and mediations

Education

  • Degree: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Bar Admission: Active membership in the state bar
