A law firm in Portland is seeking an Energy Associate Attorney with 1-4 years of experience in electric regulatory matters. The ideal candidate should have specific experience in FERC, BPA, CAISO, or other electric, transmission-related, or utility matters. Gas or other energy industry backgrounds, as well as state or federal regulatory experience, will also be considered. Superior writing ability, maturity, and good communication skills are essential, along with membership in good standing with the Oregon State Bar.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in electric regulatory matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on energy-related issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and contracts.
  • Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in negotiating settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other professionals on case strategies.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar in good standing.
  • 1-4 years of experience in electric regulatory matters.
  • Specific experience in FERC, BPA, CAISO, or other electric, transmission-related, or utility matters (preferred).
  • Gas or other energy industry backgrounds (considered).
  • State or federal regulatory experience (considered).
  • Superior writing ability and communication skills.
  • Maturity and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
