Associate Attorney needed for Buffalo office

Job Overview: A reputable multi-office, multi-state law firm is seeking a dedicated and motivated Associate Attorney to join its Buffalo, New York office. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in defense litigation, with a focus on insurance coverage disputes. The position requires the ability to manage a full caseload independently and as part of a team, and offers an opportunity to work with experienced partners, associates, and support staff. Location:

• Buffalo, NY

Duties:

• Manage and handle an assigned caseload independently, with supervision as needed based on experience
• Draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery
• Take and defend depositions, attend court appearances, and handle motion practice
• Analyze insurance policies and draft insurance coverage opinions
• Communicate directly with clients, providing recommendations and status updates
• Perform legal research on complex issues
• Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients, ensuring compliance with client guidelines
• Meet internal and external deadlines consistently
• Accurately track and record billable hours

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of experience in defense litigation
• Experience with insurance coverage disputes, including drafting insurance coverage opinions, is preferred
• Admitted to practice in New York State; additional admission in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Connecticut is a plus
• Federal court experience is beneficial, but not required
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to practice in the State of New York is required
• Additional admissions in PA, NJ, or CT are a plus
