Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with at least one year of litigation experience, combined with familiarity in transactional matters such as contracts, family law, bankruptcy, criminal law, and civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage a caseload, conduct legal research, draft documents, argue motions, and participate in hearings and trials. This role offers exposure to a wide range of legal areas while working closely with an experienced team.

Duties:

  • Research and draft motions, briefs, legal memorandums, and correspondence.
  • Identify and address legal issues associated with various legal proceedings.
  • Manage caseloads from case initiation through to resolution.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients and prospective clients on a range of legal matters.
  • Stay informed on relevant state and federal laws and regulations, particularly in family law, civil litigation, and estate planning.
  • Take direction from senior attorneys and contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Supervise paralegals and non-attorney staff when necessary.
  • Maintain a minimum of 125 billable hours per month.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in litigation, with some exposure to transactional law.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Strong academic credentials with a JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active Utah State Bar license in good standing is required.
  • Additional Bar licenses (outside of Utah) are a plus.
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to type 45+ words per minute.
  • Ability to research and draft pleadings and legal documents independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Utah (required).
  • Additional State Bar licenses preferred but not required.
