Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in immigration law, including both removal defense and family-based immigration petitions. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, manage a varied caseload, and advance professionally within a supportive legal team.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on immigration matters, explaining complex concepts and offering strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, handling detained and non-detained cases.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring deadlines and client needs are consistently met.
  • Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals in various detention centers.
  • Prepare and file a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based immigration, and citizenship petitions.
  • Review client applications, offering insights and ensuring all necessary documentation is in order.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates and advocacy efforts.
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients, formulating legal strategies for their cases.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in court and before USCIS, including comprehensive case analysis and strategy development.
  • Draft legal briefs and other documents for submission in various immigration proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Strong caseload management and organizational skills, with an ability to handle multiple cases efficiently.
  • Experience in handling family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, detained cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of immigration law and procedure.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral communication and advocacy skills, particularly in legal proceedings.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
