Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Environmental and Land Use Associate Attorney to join its Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in environmental and land use law and strong capabilities in legal research, drafting, and client counseling.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental and land use regulations.
  • Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and other pleadings.
  • Assist in preparing for hearings, trials, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Counsel clients on federal, state, and local environmental laws compliance.
  • Participate in negotiations and settlement discussions on behalf of clients.
  • Provide support to senior attorneys on complex environmental litigation matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in environmental and land use law.
  • Experience with drafting briefs, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior judicial clerkship experience in environmental or related fields.
  • Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental statutes and regulations.
  • Experience advising clients on land use planning and zoning issues.

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing.
  • Litigation and courtroom experience.
  • Client counseling and negotiation.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and legal research databases.

Education/Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
