Job Overview: An established law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join a collaborative team of legal professionals specializing in immigration law. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with clients, handle diverse immigration cases, and support individuals navigating complex immigration processes. Reporting to the Senior Associate Attorney, this position allows for professional growth and development within a supportive team environment.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings, including detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Manage a personal caseload, ensuring efficient case progress.
  • Conduct client intake at detention centers and perform client consultations.
  • Prepare and review various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations regarding immigration law updates.
  • Meet with prospective clients, conduct strategic consultations, and determine case direction.
  • Develop case strategy, and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analyses to evaluate potential case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a wide range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently.
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian petitions, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software (preferred).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar (required).

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.

Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build client relationships and offer strategic consultation.
  • Legal research, analysis, and briefing expertise.
