Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate to join its growing practice. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years of experience, with a strong background in either privacy litigation, including class action work, or transactional matters, particularly vendor and business customer service agreements. The role will require comprehensive knowledge of both federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and other related regulations. Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Handle privacy and cybersecurity litigation, including class action cases
  • Draft and negotiate vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Provide compliance counseling and risk management for privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health regulations
  • Assist clients with breach response and reporting
  • Manage client relationships and provide direct legal support to business partners
  • Participate in business development and networking initiatives

Requirements:

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, with a focus on either litigation or transactional work
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal privacy laws (CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Experience with breach response, compliance counseling, or risk management
  • Strong litigation or transactional experience, preferably in privacy or class action matters
  • Admission to the State Bar in good standing
  • Hybrid work schedule with in-office requirements

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification is a plus but not required
