Patent Agent - Electrical Engineering & Software

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a qualified Patent Agent to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, focusing on Electrical Engineering & Software. The role offers the opportunity to engage in both prosecution and litigation of patents in cutting-edge technological fields, including electrical engineering, computer science, and software development.

Location:

• Greensboro, NC

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in electrical engineering, software, and related technical fields.
• Handle patent litigation matters, providing expert legal advice and representation.
• Advise clients on intellectual property strategy and portfolio management.
• Conduct patentability, infringement, and validity analyses.
• Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Work closely with clients and internal teams to manage complex patent-related issues.

Requirements:

• IP experience, with a focus on patent prosecution and litigation.
• Technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus.
• Preference for candidates with expertise in networking, software, and wireless technologies (3G/4G/5G).
• Associate and Patent Agent candidates must be admitted to the USPTO and have 2-6 years of relevant experience.
• All candidates must be a member of the USPTO.

Education:

• Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field).

Certifications:

• USPTO registration required for all candidates.
