Job Title: Mid-Level Employee Benefits Associate Attorney

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee benefits law, including ERISA, qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and mergers and acquisitions/downsizing. This opportunity is perfect for an individual who enjoys solving complex legal issues while working in a collaborative and dynamic team environment.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on a wide range of employee benefits matters, including retirement plans, health and welfare plans, executive compensation, and fringe benefits.
  • Offer strategic advice on mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring as related to employee benefits.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing plan documents, agreements, and policies to ensure compliance with ERISA and other relevant laws.
  • Manage client relationships, ensuring effective communication and delivering actionable, clear legal advice.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex employee benefits issues and distill findings into practical guidance.
  • Collaborate with team members to support the firm's creative and entrepreneurial legal environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law, specifically in ERISA, retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and/or M&A matters.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex legal matters and present them in an accessible manner.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, contributing to a dynamic and collaborative workplace.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in one of the following jurisdictions is required: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Washington, DC.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits law, including ERISA and related regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and legal drafting skills.
  • Strong client relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Research and analytical skills to handle complex legal matters.
