A prominent Charlotte-based law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with substantial experience in civil litigation to join its litigation team. The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of experience and demonstrate expertise in all stages of litigation, from case development through trial and potential appeal. Duties

  • Manage all phases of civil litigation including:

    • Case investigation and client counseling

    • Drafting pleadings and motions

    • Conducting discovery and depositions

    • Preparing and presenting pre-trial motions

    • Handling trial preparation, jury selection, and courtroom argument

    • Negotiating settlements and preserving appellate issues

  • Conduct legal research and draft comprehensive legal memoranda

  • Cross-examine witnesses and present persuasive arguments in court

  • Collaborate with legal support staff and delegate tasks to non-attorney team members

  • Maintain effective communication with clients and represent their best interests at all stages

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a litigation caseload independently

  • Strong oral advocacy skills and courtroom presence

  • Ability to supervise support staff and manage multiple legal matters efficiently

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active member of the North Carolina State Bar (required)
