A law firm is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Nurse Attorney to join their team in Indianapolis, IN. The ideal candidate will have a nursing background or another professional healthcare license, combined with a law degree and bar admission. The role involves providing legal services and consulting on medical and healthcare-related legal matters.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on healthcare law, medical malpractice, patient rights, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and interpret medical records and healthcare documentation in the context of legal cases.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on healthcare-related legal issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Represent clients in court, arbitration, and administrative hearings.
  • Advise healthcare providers on risk management and compliance with healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and legal team members to develop case strategies.
  • Conduct depositions and interview witnesses in medical and healthcare cases.
  • Prepare and present legal arguments and evidence in court.
  • Stay current with developments in healthcare law and related legal areas to provide the most effective advice and representation.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have a nursing background or another professional healthcare license.
  • Must have bar admission and be licensed to practice law.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare laws, regulations, and medical terminology.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Degree in nursing or another healthcare-related field.

 

Certifications:

  • Membership in good standing with the State Bar.
  • Valid nursing or other healthcare-related professional license.
