A law firm seeks a Senior Litigation Attorney with 8+ years of experience in toxic tort and product liability defense to join its practice in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing complex civil litigation matters, with a focus on toxic tort cases. This position offers the opportunity to handle high-stakes cases, lead teams, and mentor junior attorneys in a collaborative, dynamic environment. The role can be performed remotely or in a hybrid format, providing flexibility for work-life balance.

Duties:

  • Lead the defense of toxic tort and product liability cases from inception through trial.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Take primary responsibility for conducting depositions and working closely with experts.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and support staff, providing guidance and leadership on cases.
  • Make in-person appearances in court and at hearings as required.
  • Draft and argue motions, and manage case strategy to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to develop the next generation of litigators within the firm.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience handling civil litigation, with a strong background in toxic tort and product liability defense.
  • Licensed to practice law in California and reside in the state.
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation matters independently, from start to finish.
  • Extensive experience in depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Strong ability to supervise and mentor junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with in-person appearances in court and hearings.
  • Trial experience is highly preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials and California Bar membership are required.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of toxic tort and product liability defense.
  • Proficient in managing discovery, conducting depositions, and preparing for trial.
  • Expertise in drafting legal documents, including motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills.
  • Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
  • Trial experience is highly desirable.
