Litigation Attorney (Associate)

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate to join their team in Pittsburgh, PA. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a recent law graduate or attorney with 1-2 years of litigation experience. The firm provides a supportive, collaborative environment where new attorneys can grow their practice, gain hands-on experience, and take on challenging cases. The ideal candidate will have a background in General Liability, Professional Liability, Healthcare, or Labor and Employment law. Knowledge of both state and federal civil procedures is essential.

Duties:

• Represent clients in various phases of litigation, from the initiation of cases to expert discovery, with a focus on general liability matters.
• Participate in court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
• Conduct legal research and handle discovery investigations.
• Draft legal documents including motions, discovery requests and responses, case summaries, settlement agreements, court orders, affidavits, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
• Review discovery responses, depositions, and prepare summaries and litigation status updates.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel on behalf of clients.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing legal updates, analysis, and advice throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

• 0-2 years of experience in litigation, with a preference for backgrounds in General Liability, Professional Liability, Healthcare, or Labor and Employment law.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania (PA); preference for candidates also barred in West Virginia (WV).
• Experience in drafting motions and handling discovery processes.
• Strong written and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in Lexis legal research software.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in Pennsylvania (PA). Bar membership in West Virginia (WV) is a plus.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear legal analysis to clients.
