Environmental Law Associate

A law firm seeks an Environmental Law Associate to join its team in New York City, NY. This position involves navigating intricate environmental regulations, resolving complex legal disputes, and guiding clients across diverse sectors through compliance and risk management challenges. Duties:

• Advise clients on compliance with environmental laws and regulations, permitting processes, and remediation strategies.
• Represent clients in litigation related to environmental contamination, including CERCLA and RCRA cases.
• Support transactions by assessing and managing environmental risks and liabilities.
• Guide on energy-related legal and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with colleagues to devise strategic solutions for clients across industries, including manufacturing, renewable energy, and education.
• Conduct detailed legal research and prepare compelling legal documents and presentations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of focused experience in environmental law.
• Preferred background in fields such as science, engineering, or urban planning.
• Familiarity with CERCLA/RCRA litigation, environmental risk transfers, and contaminated property cases is advantageous.
• Experience with energy or environmental regulatory matters is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with eligibility to practice in New York preferred.
