Job Overview: A prominent law firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Foreclosure Bankruptcy Associate Attorney to join its legal team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in handling bankruptcy cases, particularly those involving foreclosure matters. This role offers the opportunity to work with secured creditors in navigating complex bankruptcy proceedings across Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases, while offering substantial independence and professional growth within a dynamic firm.

Key Duties:

  • Draft, review, and file Payment Change Notices, Post-Petition Fee Notices, Proofs of Claim, and Transfers of Claim for Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases.
  • Conduct in-depth Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and file objections when necessary.
  • Prepare and file motions, including Motions for Relief from Automatic Stay, Objections to Chapter 13 Plans, and other related court documents.
  • Represent clients at bankruptcy court hearings, both telephonic and in-person.
  • Independently manage a caseload, ensuring all cases progress efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Address escalated and time-sensitive legal matters with precision and attention to detail.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by the firm.

Requirements:

  • A Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • Active membership in all Florida Federal Bankruptcy Districts.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in mortgage foreclosure bankruptcy or similar default-related legal fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Chapter 11 bankruptcy and adversary proceedings.
  • Familiarity with mortgage servicing processes, particularly in foreclosure and related bankruptcy matters.
  • Proficiency with legal software, including LPS/Black Knight and Tempo; knowledge of ATO and NetDocs is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and analytical abilities, with the capacity to produce clear, concise legal documents.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to present case facts and defend legal positions effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards.
  • Detail-oriented with a practical approach to handling complex legal issues.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Florida Bar.
  • Membership in all relevant Florida Federal Bankruptcy Districts.
