Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a Senior Private Equity Associate with a minimum of 6 years of experience to join its Private Equity Group. The role involves advising private equity firms and their portfolio companies on complex transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and equity investments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private equity, direct AmLaw 100 law firm or SEC experience, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Advise private equity firms and portfolio companies on a variety of complex transactions, including:
    • Mergers and acquisitions
    • Leveraged buyouts
    • Equity investments
    • General corporate matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to private equity transactions
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on business and corporate matters
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop solutions and strategies for successful deal execution
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations and firm policies
  • Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of private equity experience
  • Experience with AmLaw 100 law firms or SEC regulations
  • Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where applying
  • Strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong business judgment and problem-solving skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction of the office applied to (required)

Skills:

  • Expertise in private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate law
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Detail-oriented with strong conceptual thinking
