Position: Immigration Attorney - EOIR

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Immigration Attorney specializing in EOIR proceedings. This role offers an opportunity to represent individuals in removal proceedings, work alongside an experienced legal team, and contribute to impactful immigration cases. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on immigration matters and develop strategic solutions.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring timely filings and representation.
  • Conduct client intake and legal consultations, including visits to detention centers.
  • Prepare and review immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Advocate for clients through legal brief writing and direct representation.
  • Stay informed on changes in immigration law and guide law enforcement, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony before USCIS and immigration courts.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law, particularly EOIR proceedings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple cases while ensuring high-quality legal representation.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, citizenship applications, and detained cases.
  • Proficiency in legal research, case preparation, and client advocacy.
  • Preferred fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the United States.

Certifications:

  • Admission to a State Bar in good standing.

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with legal teams.
