A law firm in Monterey, CA, is seeking a Personal Injury Attorney who will manage their own caseload independently with support from paralegals and legal secretaries. The role requires strong verbal communication skills, negotiation expertise, and preferably, proficiency in Spanish.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of personal injury matters independently, from intake through settlement or trial.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, medical professionals, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and defense counsel.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials as necessary.
  • Supervise and mentor legal assistants and support staff assigned to cases.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar, active and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing personal injury law.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing personal injury cases from start to finish.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a practical understanding of negotiation strategies and tactics.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
